Sprague Theobald and BAGAN will be at the 2010 Seattle Boat Show

Winter boat show roundup - Seattle Jan 29 - Feb 6

The 57-foot Nordhavn that brought Newport, R.I., filmmaker and adventurer Sprague Theobald through the Northwest Passage last summer will be on exhibit Jan. 29-Feb. 6 at the Seattle Boat Show.
The vessel, named Bagan, voyaged through the seas of the Arctic Circle as Theobald and his crew left Newport June 15 to make their way past Canada, Greenland, Cambridge Bay, Alaska, and finally ending their journey Nov. 5 in Seattle. The passagemaker withstood being frozen in ice for two days 50 miles north of Gjoa Haven, near Cambridge Bay.
"I think this will be a lot of fun for our guests - a very cool addition to the show," said Bonnie Bergquist, executive director of the Northwest Yacht Brokers Association, co-producer (along with the Northwest Marine Trade Association) of the Seattle Boat Show, in a statement. "It will be a prime opportunity for people to meet a great adventurer as well as learn more about the obscure Arctic cruising grounds."
Theobald acquired Bagan in 2007 in Dana Point, Calif., through Nordhavn brokerage. The full-displacement boat weighs 60 tons and will be one of 100 in-water boat displays at the show. At the Qwest Field Center, guests to the show will be treated to an in-depth discussion of the trip by Theobald, who will also be available to answer questions.
A full account of Theobald's trip can be found here.
