Great Internet here at Chiapas Marina so I have uploaded pictures taken along the way from Bocas del Toro Panama to Chiapas Mexico via the Panama Canal... not all pixs are here but many of the highlights...
Departed Bocas del Toro on March 8th to Red Frog fuel dock - then the next morning we were off for Cristobal Panama...
Arrived Colon Panama and assigned to the "Flats"... next morning noticed a major fire near Shelter Bay Marina. Learned that the Panama Canal Company was practicing fire fighting and it got away from them at Fort Sherman next to Shelter Bay Marina... took the Internet cables out in the area...
Learned of our schedule to transit the Panama Canal for Sunday night March 16th
Shifted back out to the "Flats" with line handlers to await arrival of our "Advisor" (small vessel pilot).
Transited the Panama Canal and arrived on the Pacific side at Balboa at 0100 hours on March 17th.
Advisor and line handlers departed via launch and we continued in to "Buoy 6A" then anchored near Flamenco Signal (Island). Later in the day at high tide (15 foot tides) shifted into La Playita Marina and took fuel while Michelle went to the hospital for treatment of a week old spider bite which was not improving. She returned with 'horse tablet' sized meds and was ready to get out of Panama.
Departed Balboa Panama on March 18th. Arrived Chiapas Mexico March 26th - 8 days in transit.
Voyage numbers: 228 hours underway consumed 680 gallons (2.80gph) making 6.85 kts average speed.
Port Chiapas Marina has been extremely easy to do the formal vessel entrance and immigration paper work - VIVA LA MEXICO!!!
Today it is 92F and its during the dry season... (Rain starts in May).
